Me? I'm one of those renaissance people (or so they say). A thinker and a doer with a strong passion and dedication towards my work.
In March of 2003, I partook in starting a Stockholm-based b2b advertising agency with three very talented people. My position there was digital media director, meaning that I created interactive things that are visible onscreen and managed projects that involved digital deliverables.
Recently, I was involved in Spokn, a telecommunications company, as founder and UI-expert. Essentially, my job was to make sure that everyhing we did was so simple that my mom could use it without asking me first. Good news is, she started using the service.
Currently, I'm managing marketing at VNL - the pioneers of microtelecom, and the makers of WorldGSM™ that brings connectivity to rural communities in emerging markets. It's the most exciting venture I've ever been involved with. And you can follow what we're doing on the Microtelecom revolution blog.
I have both broad and profound knowledge within the fields of marketing, project management, information design, usability, web development and multimedia production.
I'm a skilled project manager, but also function well as a dedicated team player when necessary.
I have excellent social skills, and love meeting new people.
I'm driven by curiosity.
I find it easy to summarize and simplify - to see the big picture despite creative chaos and tight deadlines.
I've created websites since 1994. Netscape 0.94b wasn't able to properly display all the things I wanted to create, but working within such a limited environment taught me some important lessons about user interface design.
As I hand-coded my way through the years, the browsers got increasingly advanced. Still, I found myself creating the simplest and most platform-independent solutions possible.
Why simplicity? Because to me, the web is not primarily about technology. It's about communication. Most users couldn't care less about the techniques used to create what is displayed within their browsers. They just want to be entertained or informed.
I like getting things off the ground. To build sustainable creations and give them legs. So whenever an interesting opportunity comes up where I can add value by bringing something from a great idea to reality, I'm all ears.
Also, I've learned (the hard way) that ideas are not everything. Actually, good ideas are quite common. But it's uncommon to find the right people - formed into the right teams - that can bring ideas to life.
♣ Pär, how do I pronounce your name?
Something like "pair", as in "a pair of jeans". Not "purrr" as in what a cat sounds like. The two dots over the "a" colours the letter. But if it's easier for you - call me Peter. Or Pierre. Or Pedro. They all have the same meaning.
♥ So, what does "stroft" mean?
Combine the words "strong" and "soft". There you go. Yeah, I know, it's corny. However, there's a fly-line manufacturer with the same name. And I like fishing. So, um, there's at least a remote hint of sense to it all. Ahem.
